Blue Mountain Distributors is a family owned and operated business that began in 2000 out of the love for good food and the support of local communities in Asheville NC. Jeff Kocha, the Founder of Blue Mountain, worked as a fire fighter and contractor in Connecticut where he met and worked with the Sclafani family who imports hundreds of great Italian products. After leaving Connecticut for the mountains of North Carolina, Jeff discovered there was a great need for the Italian products in the south. Being a contractor in the Asheville area in the late nineties, Jeff wondered if the area would accept this wonderful Italian brand, Sclafani. He reached out to the Sclafani family and with many trips back and forth with trailer in tow, Jeff started pedaling Sclafani products around the North Carolina region. The response was huge. As his construction business was challenged with labor concerns, he decided to make the switch to being a full-time food distributor.

 

As local businesses were very responsive to his products, he continued to branch out and work with many of the Asheville native entrepreneurs that he had run into that would ask if he’d represent their brands. Today, with his wife Gina, who has been in distribution herself for over 30 years, partner together at Blue Mountain. Their great team consists of roughly 30 employees and growing, with two warehouses located in Raleigh and Fletcher with over 3,500 products. Blue Mountain supports many local brands around the Southeast.

Jeff and his team continue to partner and help small local businesses all around the southeast get into the retail market and provide the platform for their brands to get into more consumer pantries that would have otherwise not had the opportunity.
